I see from a report in the Argus that Zippo's circus is going to be allowed to bring its animal circus back to the city with no regard to the petition that was handed into the council of more than 1100 signatures objecting to this form of animal abuse.
A report out recently said that "abuse and mistreatment of these animals by circus owners and trainers have become more regular" and that "the prolonged periods spent by these animals in cages and containers used to transport and hold them may compromise their welfare".
Why the government cannot follow the example of country's like Sweden, Finland, Israel, and Singapore and ban animal circuses I do not know. Why a supposed progressive council like Brighton and Hove should allow these events to take place on its land is beyond me.
