Handsome Canadian servicemen charmed the local girls when they were stationed in Sussex during the Second World War.

Hundreds of local women fell in love with them and moved thousands of miles to start a new life across the Atlantic.

They are all pensioners now and most have never repented at leisure despite marrying in haste more than half a century ago.
