Scout leaders are furious that the youngster who wrecked their hut in Brighton by setting fire to it has received only a two-year supervision order.
They believe the sentence does not in any way reflect the loss of more than half a century of history of memorabilia and the large sum of money involved.
This boy, whose name cannot be revealed because of his age, was still old enough to know what he was doing and to take responsibility for it.
It may not be right to lock him up for several years as some of the Scout leaders feel should happen in view of the enormity of the crime, but this boy should face the consequences of his crime.
He has offered to pay some money towards the club and sent a letter of apology.
But he should have to face the Scouts and their leaders so they can tell him exactly what his attack has done to them and their neighbourhood.
