Recently I had occasion to ring the police on the non-emergency number after a caller came to my house in the early hours of the morning.
The replay from the call centre was immediate. I was transferred to the communications office at Brighton with no delay and within five minutes a patrol car was driving past my house looking for the man. Within ten minutes of the event, I was back in bed.
We hear so much about the lack of policing and their bad response time that I feel their efficiency on this occasion should be recognised and I have written to the Chief Constable to praise the staff concerned.
