Crawley's Michael Alldis could be defending his British super-bantamweight title in March.

Alldis was due to make a third defence of his crown in his home town on January 23 but those plans were scuppered when a suitable opponent could not be found.

Talk of a European title challenge at the Crawley Leisure Centre show has also been cast aside and instead Alldis will now face a non-title, international contest against either Danny Rodriguez (USA), Frederik Mehdi (France) or a Romanian fighter.

Alldis said: "I am disappointed but I just want to fight. I would rather it have been for the British title. If I get that out of the way then I can move on to European and World class fights.

"But I have been told I will be fighting again in March, defending my title.

"It is frustrating but it is still a fight I have got to win and I have still got to look good. I must get on with it and do a professional job."

The Crawley show a fortnight today will see Crawley's Alan Gilbert fighting for the Southern Area light-middleweight title against Delroy Mellis.

Topping the bill will be London's Richard Williams challenging holder Tony Badea (Canada) for the Commonwealth light-middleweight crown.
