Enterprising Michael Burnage has helped to raise more than £3,500 for sick youngsters after sacrificing his wedding night to put a smile on their faces.
He ignored romance and built a replacement model of Bob the Builder after the original was stolen.
The model was pinched from a Christmas light display outside his home in Malines Avenue, Peacehaven.
But kind-hearted visitors helped to raise £3,525 for the Rockinghorse Appeal at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton when they donated cash.
Thousands of people went to see the light display which included Thomas the Tank Engine, Postman Pat, Snow White and Winnie the Pooh.
Mr Burnage said: "I am so proud, on behalf of all the family, to be giving such a large amount to the Royal Alex. It is incredible."
