I was one of hundreds of disappointed revellers attending the Shoreham New Year's Eve party that the police decided to stop at five minutes to twelve.

I would like to point out that there were clearly marked fire exits which were well lit and free from obstruction.

Also, the organisers of this event demanded that all vehicles were removed from the vicinity of the party before music commenced to eliminate fire risk.

The venue was chosen with consideration of noise impact to local residents in an underground car park. The organisers did not break into the party site, which was already open.

There was no entrance fee as the police indicated although the organisers had spent hundreds of pounds out of their own pockets to put this event together so that hundreds of people could have a good time, many of whom could not afford £50, which was the going rate in most Brighton nightclubs.
