A man quizzed by detectives in connection with a robbery bid at a village post office has been released without charge.
Police say a man armed with a crowbar tried to break the security screen inside the Fishbourne Post Office near Chichester.
When it failed to break, he kicked a door leading to the secure area where a woman was working alone.
But he fled empty-handed and ran away towards a nearby roundabout junction with the A27.
The failed robbery happened just after 4.30pm yesterday.
Police said the raider had a knitted scarf around his face when he walked into the post office and demanded cash.
Today the post office was open for business but a woman on duty declined to comment.
