It's scarcely surprising that relatives of Jay Abatan are upset with Sussex Police and its initial investigation into his murder.
After all, an independent report into it by police from Essex made many recommendations for improvement and strongly criticised the force.
The report, released by his family, says Sussex Police were often sloppy, slow and incompetent in the way they dealt with the case.
Mr Abatan, from Eastbourne, was assaulted in Brighton two years ago following a dispute about a taxi and fell after receiving blows to the head. He died a week later.
The family has every right to feel aggrieved and can proceed with a hearing before the Police Complaints Authority if they feel this is necessary.
But a new inquiry with a fresh team of officers has now been launched and one of the largest ever rewards of £175,000 is being offered for help leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit.
There's no doubt that, whatever the mistakes in the past and there have been numerous, police are determined to solve this crime.
They have assigned a large team to the fresh investigation and are convinced someone out there holds vital clues to this killing even two years on.
Most efforts now should be concentrated, not on recriminations, but on finding the killer of this innocent young man.
