The drawing skills of Adur's Linda Gray have impressed many this season and she has been rewarded with places in three area finals of the national championships.
Close on her heels are Rita George, of King Alfred, Terri Wall (Preston) and Jenny Bainbridge of Adur, who appear in two finals.
Rita won 21-10 at home to Sue Gunston (Egerton) in the singles semi-finals and now plays Eastbourne's Sheila Simmonds who won 21-17 at Preston over Jean Bowles.
In the pairs, Rita was also at Preston with her partner Gloria Michael and they out-bowled Sheila Miller and Kathy Flood to win 20-12. In the final they will play Iris Winston and Joan Howson, of Wealden, who won 22-14 at home to Worthing's Freda Linberry and Wendy Davies.
With a measure on the extra end, Sue Gunston and Denise Hodd won 18-17 at home to Ann Crouch and Iris Grice (Adur) in the unbadged pairs semi-finals and now play Eastbourne's Sue Taylor and Joan Wells who won by one shot at home to Pam Mole and Linda Gray.
In the champion of champions sem-finals Pam Pile (Grattons) won 21-11 at home to Pauline Adams of Downs and Linda Gray won 21-9 at home to Preston's Sue Jones.
Three Preston teams reached the last four of the two-wood over-50s triples and Marie Wilson, Pat Pearce and Jean Bowles decisively put out their visitors, Iris Robinson, Jean Taylor and Betty Potten (Worthing) who were beaten 29-8 having never really got to grips with the opposition after opening with three singles.
Jan Dearling, Terri Wall and Sue Jones were 16-9 winners over Betty Durrant, Sheila Miller and Ann Owen.
Miller, Terri Wall and Durrant had a 30-10 home win over Wealden's Margaret Chad, Jean Durrant and Janet Noyes in the triples and now play Joan Murrell, Jenny Bainbridge and Linda Gray who got through 18-17 at Worthing Pavilion over Beryl Brown, Pat Suter and Kay Quaife.
Three shots on the 20th end gave Linda Lester, Jenny Bainbridge, Sandra Godfrey and Linda Gray a four shot cushion going into the final end of the fours at home to Sheila Miller, Ann Owen, Kathy Flood and Betty Durrant and they held on to win 19-17. After ten ends Gray's team had led 10-6 but they were only 12-11 ahead at 15 and 16-15 at 17.
In the all-Eastbourne tie, June Liggins, Ann Summers, Olive Boniface and Doris Stanton won 19-17 over Joan Wells, Sue Taylor, Gillian Lower and Di Carpenter.
Following a five shot win at home to Betty and Steve Potten, Linda Gray and her son Gary are into the final of the generation pairs in which Pat and Steve Bain of Eastbourne oppose them at Preston tomorrow (Sunday) at 6.30pm.
Area secretary Kathy Flood has arranged the finals as follows:
Friday, February 9 at Eastbourne (4pm): triples.
Saturday, February 10 at Preston (10am): pairs and unbadged pairs, fours.
Sunday, February 11 at Denton Island (10am): singles; champion of champions; Under 31s singles Debbie Stavrou (Preston) v Lorraine Clarkson of Falaise; two wood Over 50s triples.
