How delightful it must be to attain the holy status of the cyclist. After the road system of Brighton is partially destroyed on your behalf (greatly "calming" the traffic flow), after years of happily riding through red lights, on pavements and anywhere else you choose, the big bad policeman is about to crack down on you.

Tremble in your custom-made riding shoes. Having been seen to commit an offence, you will not be subject to the normal course of law of this fair land and perhaps fined and your insurance increased. Oh, no. You will be given a sheet of paper (and, presumably, a warning).

This is gross and obvious discrimination against both car driver and motorcycle rider.

If you are not fully cognisant of the exact meaning of a red light or a no-entry sign, your very existence probably poses a substantial threat to public safety and environmental health.
