Brighton is the hub of a national business acquisition broking service just launched by chartered accountants Mazars Neville Russell.
The service is the brainchild of Adrian Alexander, head of corporate finance.
Its national launch comes after two years of development and a pilot programme run by the Brighton-based accountants across the South-East.
Mergers and acquisitions consultant Alex Turner, 27, a former sixth form student at Tideway School in Newhaven, who qualified as a chartered accountant just four-and-a-half years ago, heads up the operation.
Adrian said the service had evolved from Mazars Neville Russell's existing assistance to those looking to sell their business.
He said: "A couple of years ago, we decided there was a need for a dedicated acquisitions department offering a comprehensive information base as well as a full service. The market is fragmented but development of our national network and databases has enabled us to identify and co-ordinate potential opportunities."
The database lists between 1,000 and 1,500 businesses with a national or regional profile, ranging in value from £100,000 to several millions.
Adrian added: "It's really a match-making operation. Clients first register on our database. Acquisition opportunities are then monitored as they come in from a wide range of sources around the UK.
"Immediately a suitable match is found, the client is informed."
