A drug dealer has been jailed for six-and-a-half years for peddling death in Brighton and Hove.
The sentence follows the news that a record number of people were killed by heroin in the city last month.
Seven people died directly from heroin-related overdoses, compared to three in January last year.
Binyen Beyene, 21, travelled to the city selling heroin and crack cocaine "like Smarties" on the city streets, according to Brighton police.
Lewes Crown Court Judge Richard Hayward said Brighton's drug problem was well known and people peddling on the streets would not be tolerated.
Beyene, unemployed and from West London, was found guilty of possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
Born in East Africa, Beyene came to Britain in 1991.
A covert police operation, led by detective constables Paul Davison and Steve Grainger, ended in a raid last July on a guest house in Kemp Town, Brighton.
They found Beyene in possession of heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of £1,000, plus a quantity of cash.
He pleaded not guilty in court and claimed the drugs were not his.
His conviction brings the total jail sentences given to city drug dealers in recent months to 55 years.
