Four cars were involved in a crash on the A27 Brighton bypass during this morning's rush hour.
Police said there were no reports of serious injury but one person suffered a minor head injury.
Traffic backed up several miles while emergency services dealt with the wreckage.
The crash happened by the Hollingbury turn-off just before 8am.
The eastbound carriageway was closed for more than an hour and westbound traffic was delayed.
There was another accident shortly before 9am when two cars collided. Again there were no reports of serious injury.
