British bosses owe their employees more than £737 million a month in expenses, it has been claimed.
Nearly two million workers in the UK have to wait more than a month for their money after submitting a claim, a survey found.
The report from BACS, the UK's automated financial clearing house, said many workers had to wait an unnecessary length of time for their expenses.
Some 90 per cent of salaries are paid into bank accounts but more than half of UK companies pay expense claims by cheque.
