Preston Park has yet again been taken over by travellers with convoys of lorries and caravans coming into the park over the weekend.
In the past, Brighton and Hove Council would have had the determination to move these people on but it would appear it now has a policy to leave them alone.
The car parks on Ditchling Road at 39-acre field and in Stanmer Park at the top of Coldean Lane have now been occupied by travellers for six months. There appears to be little prospect of gaining access to these recreational areas again.
Lorries used as living accommodation are now permanently parked in Preston Park Avenue, the upper ride in Preston Park and Wellington Road. Again, the policy appears to be to leave well alone.
So it may be the case that Preston Park will now have a permanent travellers' camp.
Presumably one of the benefits of city status?
