Albion boss Micky Adams has set a target of 35 points from the last 18 games to make certain of promotion.

The second-placed Seagulls are on course to repeat Adams' promotion triumph with Fulham four seasons ago. They go into tomorrow's trip to out-of-form Cheltenham with 57 points from 28 games.

Adams said: "We are exactly where we want to be. At Fulham we had 59 points after 30 games and we were in first place, so we are about spot-on.

"Two points a game is the target I've set us this season and we are a point above that. If you get 92 points you should win the League. I think Chesterfield will get more than that, but it would be more than enough to guarantee us automatic promotion.

"We have got to sustain what we have done so far and not worry about the likes of Cardiff and Rochdale."

Albion are five points clear in second and have a seven point cushion over the chasing pack following Cardiff's 1-0 defeat at Blackpool on Tuesday and Rochdale's goalless draw at Scunthorpe.

"The results helped us the other night," Adams said. "It is good to go into a game not fighting to keep our position. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, we will still be second, which helps relax the players."

Nathan Jones and Lee Steele are vying for a starting place if Paul Brooker fails to recover from a calf injury.

Cheltenham have lost five matches in a row and they have never scored against the Seagulls, but Adams is warning against complacency.

"That is the big danger. They are still not too far away from a play-off place and my players mustn't allow them to gain confidence by not setting about the task properly.

"They have enough big lads to cause problems at set pieces."
