Donny Mann travels further than most to get his weekly fix of Sunday football.

The 29-year-old marksman journeys down from London to Burgess Hill to play for Colourfast in Sussex Sunday League Division Six. And the 20-goals-a-season player has been making the unusual trip for a parks game for five years.

But despite a season of so many fruitless journeys because games have been postponed due to bad weather, Donny is as enthusistic as ever.

He said: "I come down to play every week because the Colourfast team are a cracking bunch of lads. They are brilliant. We have a good time even when we lose and everyone gets on well.

"I live in the Wimbledon area and the teams in my local league are nowhere near as friendly as the ones down in Sussex."

Donny first played for the team when his friend Lee O'Leary invited him down for a game. Since that first outing hehas caught the bug and makes the trip down the A23 every week.

Even the disappointment of finding matches have been called off soon disappears.

He said: "Lee's little girl, Samantha, is my God-daughter, so if the matches are off I go and visit her. I still have a nice time whether the match is on or off."

His goals are obviously another factor in his enthusiasm. Since he has joined, Donny has been top scorer every season.

He said: "We've got a reasonable side and are just below mid-table, but to be honest the results are not the be-all and end-all."
