Residents of Woodingdean opening their curtains every morning are faced with the most hideous blot on the landscape -and no one seems to want to do anything about it.
Since the Sunblest Bakery factory, off Falmer Road, closed the site has been turned into something like a bomb site, littered with burnt-out cars, graffiti and rubbish.
Visitors who take a tour of the countryside to find hidden Sussex will discover this eyesore is not so hidden.
After coming under fire, landowner Brighton and Hove City Council leased the site to Midlands-based developers St Modwen Properties and granted planning permission for offices and light industry.
But nothing has happened.
Councils and developers are often quick off the mark to destroy the natural beauty of an environment when they believe they are creating jobs and industry but often too slow to act to clean up when industry moves on.
Get the bulldozers in and flatten this eyesore now. If it is developed at a later date so be it but it's no use to anyone as it is.
