Worthing boss Sammy Donnelly is singing the praises of Damian Webber after the former Millwall defender made a quick return to Woodside Road.

Webber, released just over a week ago, was back in defence as Rebels ended their long winless run with a 2-1 midweek success at Aylesbury.

Donnelly said: "Damian has offered to play for nothing and I take my hat off to him. It's really good to see an ex-professional wanting to put something back into the game at this level."

Stuart Tuck, Spencer Mintram and Marc Rice are expected to return for the home clash with Barton.

Jay Pickering may play a part in Bognor's trip to Harlow after coming through 60 minutes of a miweek friendly against a Great Britain Army XI.

Pickering has been ruled out by a knee injury since Boxing Day.

Kevin Murphy also had a 25-minute run out and was last night being offered the chance of a month's loan at Chichester to help rebuild his fitness.

HASTINGS MUSTMIX Hastings boss George Wakeling says his men must muscle their way into the Dr Martens Premier Division.

Hastings were 5-2 winners at Histon on Saturday, but were held 1-1 at home by Baldock on Tuesday.

Wakeling said: "Our boys would fare well in the premier division because you get the chance to play more football. This is a more physical league and you need to mix it."

THOMSON HOPING Andy Thomson is hoping to persuade Carlton Chatelier to return to St Leonards.

The prolific striker left for personal reasons a couple of months ago. But Thomson is confident he will return and pair up with his new goalscorer Dominic Barclay.

Thomson said: "Carlton was keen when we spoke this week and hopefully I'll have him next week."

Saints are at full strength for the trip to Banbury United.
