The biggest pike recorded at Ardingly Reservoir recently was caught by the bailiff Wesley Horton.
He pre-baited with chopped fish on the Causeway then popped-up a herring head to catch a fish of 20lb 2oz.
The causeway is also producing a few roach and bream, but the best area for roach at present is Hammer Point where swim feeder maggots will pick them up.
There have been more tench caught this winter than any other I can remember and almost every week they have been hooked in the Wallers Haven, especially during matches.
Only last week a tench of 3lb 8oz was caught during a competition by the South-down Angling Association.
At Sharnfold Farm Fishery, a tench of 3lb 1oz was taken in a bag of 80 fish caught by Bexhill angler Graham Stevens who fished with maggots on a size 20 hook.
Several other tench have been caught from this water, though there are no details, while the remainder of catches have been made up of roach, rudd, bream and the odd perch.
At Swanborough Lakes the odd tench has also been taken, but catches have mainly been made up of 5lb carp hooked on flavoured luncheon meat and soft boilies. On the match lake a number of perch from 8oz to 1lb were caught on worms, along with bream to 5lb on swim feeder maggots.
The Great Pond at Horam Manor Fishery continues to fish really well with lots of roach, rudd and small carp being taken on maggots and worms. Catches have even included a few carp off surface, though most of the fish have been under 5lb.
A common carp of 16lb was caught from the New Specimen Lake by an angler from London on a boilie and on Field Lake carp to 5lb were taken by anglers pole fishing in the margins with maggots.
House Lake produced carp to low doubles and there were bream and roach taken on the feeder and float with maggots by the snack bar. Middle Lake fished well for bream, roach, rudd and small carp to float fished bread flake, but only small carp were caught from Kell Lake on mini boilies.
Lots of carp between 3lb and 6lb were landed on Old Specimen Lake on sweet-corn, luncheon meat and maggots.
Thirty pounds of roach and bream, plus two chub were caught from Bunker Straight on the Match Lake at Passies Ponds by Jason Gratwicke of Shoreham, who pole fished with maggots. On the main lake there were plenty of silver fish taken along with perch to 3lb taken on caster fished over chopped worm.
Worthing members had a fruitless four hours taking in the sunshine. The only sizeable fish were a flounder of 7 1/2oz by John Irbens. The venue was the River Adur or Shoreham harbour but for the third round of the Pearson Cup on March 6 members will be back on the pier.
One crucian carp and loads of bits (mainly roach and rudd) gave Ivor Osborne a 5lb 9oz winning bag in the Rother match at Cooks Pond; Paul Knight had 4lb 10oz which was mainly three crucians and Chris Boxall 4lb 9 1/2oz of bits.
