Hove's Helen Armour has almost finished the next leg of the BT Global Challenge - the race for 12 identical yachts sailing round the world the wrong way.
Helen and the rest of the team sailing Logica left Wellington, New Zealand last Sunday for this seven day sprint across to Sydney, Australia. The start was fairly keen between all 12 yachts but two yachts were too keen and had a nasty collision, causing injury and damage to both crews and boats. Protests have been lodged.
Helen and Logica steered clear of any trouble and are well placed to finish in the top three.
But such hopes could be short-lived for it only needs one small error of judgement to drop them back in the fleet as only a handful of miles currently separate the top six.
