At a recent meeting of Brighton and Hove Pensioners' Association, we heard there was a proposal by Brighton and Hove City Council to cut the number of sheltered housing scheme managers.
Apparently, it is suggested each scheme manager should cover two sheltered schemes instead of one.
The shortfall is to be made up by the increased use of Carelink. Carelink, by the way, is itself overstretched as it now has to be self-supporting.
As pensioners who may one day be in sheltered housing, we object to this change.
The reason people go into sheltered housing is to have the security of a warden available most of the time.
We hope this is just a rumour which will not actually be carried out by the council. We would like to hear no such change will take place.
