Albion boss Micky Adams has blasted the Withdean boo-boys.
Saturday's 1-1 draw against lowly York was greeted with boos at the final whistle from sections of the south stand.
Adams said: "I was disappointed with them again. We didn't play well, but they are not helping.
"If you look at our Withdean record this year what have they got to moan about?
"I didn't tell them we have got a team that could rival Manchester United.
"They have got short memories. Two or three years ago we were in York's position. If they think we are going to walk our way to promotion without any help from them they are sadly mistaken.
"If they want to give anybody stick give it to me and not the players, because it isn't helping them.
"I heard comments like spend some money, get a midfielder or a centre forward, but there is no more money. I am still trying to get two loan signings in but that's the lot. The fans need to get behind the players we've got."
Gary Hart's first goal since Boxing Day put Albion ahead in the second half. York skipper Steve Agnew levelled 13 minutes later.
Cardiff moved above Albion into second yesterday on goal difference with a 4-2 win at Kidderminster.
Kerry Mayo, replaced by Paul Brooker in the first half, is suspended for Saturday's visit to Leyton Orient.
The O's were the only winners among the chasing pack, Rochdale suffering an extraordinary 7-1 home defeat against struggling Shrewsbury.
Albion's reserves visit Bristol City today (2pm).
