I loved reading the letter from Miss Sterling (Opinion, February 20), as I also look forward to reading letters from the folk I can equate with.
I wouldn't disagree with her short list of letter writers, either.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, letters I can equate with are becoming few and far between, superseded by much uninteresting political spin-doctoring and letters concerning not local but national and world issues.
For example, Opinion, February 20: Attack by US and British warplanes on Iraq; high proportion of women have drink problem; horrible seven who swapped sex on internet; how delicious the food is in Cuba.
Important issues nationally and internationally, perhaps, but not real issues of importance locally for discussion or grousing about.
Issues of real interest and importance are what happens in and around areas which The Argus circulates - and, of course, criticism of any new government legislation.
