Adie Miles produced two classic knockout strikes, then declared: "These cups are keeping our season alive."

Rocks' popular hit man struck twice inside 28 minutes to set up a nail-biting Full Members Cup triumph over Premier Division Maiden-head. He was twice set up by Miles Rutherford, striking from close range on four minutes, then expertly guiding home a precise through ball.

Miles said: "The first half hour was probably the best we have played all season and we could have been three or four up. It would be nice to get to a couple of finals, especially the Senior Cup. That is a final I have never reached."

Bognor's path to a last eight tie at Basingstoke came under threat when Matt Russell missed a sitter and Maidenhead bounced straight down to the other end for Lee Channell to throw them a 39th minute lifeline.

Visiting boss Alan Devonshire was dismissed from the dugout in an untidy second half in which Rocks withstood a barrage of high balls.

Loan goalkeeper Craig Stoner made sure of victory with a reflex save in an injury time scramble which involved his opposite number Richard Barnard.

Neil Hider took charge of the hosts with boss Jack Pearce on a scouting mission in the north of the county.

Hider admitted: "We let them back into it in the second half but we are a more resilient side these days.
