Lee Steele's hopes of a return to the Albion starting line-up have been hit by the weather.
Boss Micky Adams was planning to assess Steele in last night's reserve game against his former club Fulham. But the match was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Woodside Road, Worthing.
Adams is considering some support up front for 20-goal Bobby Zamora against promotion rivals Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road on Saturday.
"It's a possibility that we will match them up by playing 4-4-2 ourselves," revealed Adams. "I am toying with that idea."
A succession of injuries, the latest a damaged knee sustained in a car crash before Christmas, have restricted Steele to three starts since his summer move from Shrewsbury.
The 27-year-old has been back on the bench for the last two home games against York and Blackpool after he was left out of the squad for the defeat at Cheltenham.
"When he first came back he didn't look at all fit or sharp," Adams explained.
"Dean White has done a lot of physical work with him and he is nearly there."
Steele said: "It would be nice to play up front with Bobby, but it's just about me getting back.
"I would like to get a couple of starts and prove myself from there, because I don't think I have proved anything so far with all the injuries I've had."
Adams confirmed there has been no interest yet in transfer-listed pair Mark Cartwright and Darren Freeman. They were also scheduled to play last night.
