Albion have triumphed in their fixture row with title rivals Chesterfield.
The Withdean showdown between the top two will take place on Tuesday May 1 from 7.45 pm.
We exclusively revealed on Monday that the clubs were at loggerheads over a new date for the game postponed on March 24.
Chesterfield wanted it played in the penultimate week of the season, commencing April 23.
Albion boss Micky Adams, concerned about the effects of a long trip to Carlisle on April 21, preferred the final week of the campaign and the Football League have ruled in his favour.
The match against Chesterfield will now be the Seagulls' last at home and also falls at an awkward time for the Spireites, who are currently seven points clear having played a game more.
Three days have been set aside from April 30 for their possible appeal against a long list of alleged financial irregularities.
The hearing itself takes place in Sheffield next Tuesday, when Albion entertain lowly Lincoln.
That is one of the Seagulls' two matches in hand on fourth-placed Hartlepool and they could be on course for an Easter promotion knees-up at Withdean.
Four straight wins, culminating in the visit by Darlington on Monday April 16, guarantees Second Division football next season.
Picking up three more points than Hartlepool between now and April 16 would also be enough.
Meanwhile, Cardiff City moved to within a point of Albion, although having played a game more, after winning 1-0 at home to Barnet last night.
The only goal came from Joshua Low in the 69th minute.
