Councillor Berry's comments regarding free half-fare bus passes for pensioners (Opinion, March 30) border on the incredible.
Adur Conservative councillors, who form the minority administration, are fully supportive of the free half-fare bus scheme.
The price of a bus pass in Adur is £14.99 for every person who takes up the offer. The Government's contribution is £3, while the remaining £21.99 is funded by Adur District Council.
When the Government announced the compulsory scheme, everybody was under the illusion it would fully fund it. No wonder council taxes have risen in all parts of the country - yet another stealth tax.
