How I agree with Christopher Hawtree's comment (Opinion, April 3) about the loss of The Essoldo, which could have been used for shows such as Noises Off.

I stood in Church Street and looked at the rear part of the front structure of this magnificent building and wondered who put the seal of approval to its demolition.

With talk of the redevelopment of the Jubilee site with pubs restaurants, nightlife, etc, this building should have been left for London promotions.

What other facilities does the new City really have to offer? People would not have to go up to London if there was a larger theatre here.
