As someone who has grown up in the country, it is painful for me to recognise troubles that our farmers are having to put up with as the current outbreak of foot-and-mouth continues to devastate our communities.
What I'd like to know is, when this crisis is over, how long will it take for the Press to realise what is happening to the other aspect of farming in this country?
I am, of course, referring to the planting and harvesting of the crops that our farms also rely on as a solid form of revenue.
Most of the fields I see as I drive to work still seem to be suffering from laying water and few are anywhere near being ploughed.
Are we going to have one problem replaced by another that may be being kept from the public?
