A Sussex man is being held in Malaysia today after being detained near the country's military headquarters.
Graeme Parker, 32, from East Sussex, was arrested by military police near the military museum inside the ministry compound in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, the Foreign Office said.
Mr Parker has not yet been charged with any offence.
He is understood to have been caught with a camera and no passport but it is not clear what he was doing in the military base.
A member of the British Consulate has been in touch with Mr Parker and will be visiting him in the next couple of days.
"We will be checking on his current circumstances visiting him and offering him welfare," said a Foreign Office spokesperson.
"If he is charged we will give him details of lawyers and monitor his case."
