Worthing's 12 members had a good assortment of fish (dogfish, bass, eels, flounders and rockling) during the four hours of the first round of the Head Cup on the pier.
Tony Burton had five fish on peeler crab or ragworm for 4lb 3 1/2oz and Steve Montgomery six on crab for 2lb 15oz.
Alan Gilbert used sand eel for bait and had two dogfish and a rockling for 3lb 8oz. Doug Herbert had ten rockling for 2lb 5 1/2oz and Ray White four fish for 2lb.
The best round was Gilbert's dogfish of 2lb 1 1/2oz and the best flat Dave Lewis's 12 1/2oz flounder.
Andy Beadsley, a qualified fly fishing instructor, is giving a series of one day fly fishing lessons at Duncton Mill during April, May and June.
Each day will be self-contained and tailored to the needs of those attending. Both beginners and improvers are welcome and fishing equipment will be provided as required.
Previous courses at the fishery have been well attended by both men and women taking part. Young people aged 12 or over, are also welcome.
The courses are being run in conjunction with the WSCC Adult Education Service. The cost is £10 a day for the tuition and £5 for each fish caught. Details on 01730 816683.
