There have been a number of examples of financial waste in public life recently.
Increase in Mayors' allowances, thousands spent on a launch party of the anti-victimisation initiative, £1million over-spend on homelessness, and now £14,000 has been paid for the meaningless cones in West Street.
Those who are responsible for public money could and should do better.
What do we get in return for all this expenditure? Absolutely nothing.
