Sussex media specialists have been organising the largest dedicated digital film festival in the world.
Next week, the annual onedotzero festival, now in its fifth year, will provide an international showcase for digital film.
Brighton-based Matt Hanson has jointly organised the onedotzero event, which is being promoted by the lifestyle division of Brighton PR company Midnight Communications.
Mr Hanson, co-director of onedotzero, said: "It all came about from my frustration with film journalism and seeing that many films were not doing anything to push the boundaries.
"The festival is about exploring moving image in all its forms and doing something new. This year, we are particularly interested in the mix of hybrids coming along with digital film making and effects."
The festival will include film shows, music, commercials, animation, motion graphics, debates and presentations about the industry's future. Producers from as far afield as Japan and America will screen new works.
Film and digital shorts, produced by the London offices of onedotzero, will also be shown at the event. The company has been concentrating on features using digital and DVD technology.
Mr Hanson said: "The tagline for the onedotzero festival is Adventures in Moving Image and we have delivered this with an original forum for creators to display their work."
Midnight Communications was the first in the country to specialise in PR for the new media sector. The firm's forward thinking approach attracted onedotzero organisers.
Mr Hanson said: "We had a difficult time finding the right partner for our PR, one who understood our approach and the hybrid nature of our business, events and projects.
"Midnight grasped our attitude and widened our appeal to a more mainstream audience, delivering fantastic results and exposure for our brand."
Midnight director Lindsay Edmunds has followed the project from its early days.
She said: "Screen International magazine cited onedotzero as one of the top ten visionary outfits set to shape the future of film in the UK.
"Working with such innovators has been great fun and very rewarding."
The onedotzero festival will be held at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London, April 27 to May 6. Sussex screenings will take place as part of the Brighton Festival, May 15 to 26.
