Albion boss Micky Adams has told potential bidders Bobby Zamora is not for sale, at any price.
Adams is desperate to hold onto his 28-goal hotshot to spearhead the promoted Seagulls' challenge in the Second Division next season.
Albion have already rejected offers for Zamora of £1.5 million from Wigan and £1.2 million from Cardiff. Premiership pair Ipswich and Coventry are among a host of clubs closely monitoring his progress.
But Adams has no intention of cashing in on his 20-year-old star to finance squad strengthening.
"I don't fear someone coming in for him in the summer because I don't want to sell him," Adams said. "I don't care how much they offer. My stance will be Bobby Zamora is going nowhere. Whether that's the club's stance is another matter.
"If we are going to be successful we need a goalscorer. He will be unproven as a Second Division player and it will be a test for him, but if we do sell him where do I replace him?"
Zamora is closing in on a club record after scoring for the sixth League game in succession in Monday's Withdean promotion party against Darlington.
That eclipses the achievements of Peter Ward and Kurt Nogan in the modern era and puts him within two of the all-time mark, held jointly by Arthur Attwood, Bernie Moore, Peter Harburn and Cyril Thompson.
Zamora has five matches left to catch Ward's record goal total of 36 in the 1976-77 season, starting with Saturday's trek to relegation-threatened Carlisle.
Transfer-listed Albion defender Darren Carr cannot play as a condition of his loan move to Carlisle and he now faces a one-match ban after he was one of three Carlisle players sent off in Monday's 3-0 defeat at Scunthorpe.
