Albion youth manager Dean Wilkins believes Seagulls could be top of their Youth Alliance play-offs division with a little bit of luck.
Albion overcame Oxford 2-1 on Tuesday just three days after drawing 3-3 at Bristol Rovers. It leaves them with two victories, two draws and a defeat with just one game left.
Stefan Wojciechowski and Daniel Marney scored against Oxford, while Chris McPhee, Marney and Shaun Wilkinson netted at Rovers.
Wilkins said: "I was quite happy with the way we played against Oxford. It was a bit like a game of chess. They were very defensive. But we did okay on a good pitch.
"We played quite well against Bristol Rovers and their manager admitted he didn't know how we didn't score ten against his side. We hit the bar a few times and had a penalty appeal turned down.
"They scored through one sliced back pass and a dodgy bounce on a poor pitch and their third came in the final minute.
"Even in earlier games things could have been different. Against Orient we conceded three goals in five minutes and drew with Cambridge when we should have beaten them."
Albion entertain Exeter at home in their final fixture on May 5.
Meanwhile, Alan Sanders, a teacher at Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College, has been appointed education officer to the club's scholarship players.
And secretary Derek Allan is still wrestling with a backlog of fixtures for the reserves.
The only game confirmed so far is a trip to Reading on Wednesday May 2 (2pm).
