Tax on petrol will be a key issue in the General Election with motorists claiming it is too high and environmentalists too low.
But that's no reason for the car company Daewoo to find Liz Fraser to stand in Transport Secretary John Prescott's seat in Hull to draw attention to the way in which fuel tax is spent.
Daewoo's technical centre in Worthing cut the number of employees from 750 to only 160 before it was bought out last week by TWR.
The company owes vast sums to the banks and is in receivership. Yet it can afford money for a tacky campaign of this nature.
It should withdraw the candidate immediately before any money is spent that would be an insult to Worthing workers who have been made redundant.
And it's noticeable that even the insensitive Daewoo management has not had the gall to field a candidate in either of the Worthing seats.
