Councillor Middleton's dismissal of Christopher Hawtree's point of view as "talking rubbish" comes as no surprise (Opinion, April 19).
Some years ago, I had the misfortune to cross paths with Coun Middleton in my work as a council employee. On that occasion, he used the "don't you know who I am?" argument to make his point and I was silenced. It strikes me Coun Middleton is one of those "positive" people who needs to succeed and is not politic in how he does so.
I'm sure he doesn't intend to stifle debate by putting down others points of view or wielding his power - he just doesn't know any better.
