South Saxons made it third time lucky as they shocked Middleton and Bognor to lift the Sussex Plate at Hastings on Sunday.
Julian Buss scored a golden goal winner in the second half of extra time to secure a 2-1 win for Saxons against a side two divisions above them.
Saxons, runners-up in the Sussex Open League this season, had reached the final twice before but had never won the competition.
M&B, missing a few players, took the lead from a short corner thanks to Brian Lock but Jeremy Bunday levelled from open play before half time just two minutes after coming on as substitute.
There was no further scoring in normal time and Buss finally decided the issue, touching home a pass from Andy Acott.
There was drama, too, in the Sussex Under-21 final as Cameron Maynard scored a winner 20 seconds from the end of extra time to earn East Grinstead a 6-5 win over Lewes. It was Maynard's second of the game, Kevin Arnold scored a hat-trick and Ben Payne hit the other.
The 1st XI Sussex Cup Final between Brighton & Hove and Chichester takes place at Bognor Arena this Sunday at 3.15pm.
Other finals at Bognor on Sunday: 2nd XI, Chichester v Lewes, 10.30; 3rd XI, Chichester v East Grinstead, 12.00; Veterans, East Grinstead v Lewes, 1.30.
