Sussex could give debuts to four players when they start their Championship campaign against Worcestershire at New Road tomorrow.
New overseas star Murray Goodwin will open the batting, Bas Zuiderent will make his Championship debut while 19-year-old Matt Prior will keep wicket.
Off spinner Nick Davis could complete the quartet if he is preferred to seamer Mark Robinson. A decision will be made tomorrow after a check on a wicket Worcestershire groundsman Roy McLaren predicts will be 'low and slow.'
The most interesting selection is Zuiderent who has seen off competition from Jamie Carpenter and Will House for the No. 4 slot.
The Dutchman has waited two years for his chance and coach Peter Moores thinks he's ready to take it.
Moores said: "Of the younger batsman Bas has looked in the best form in pre-season. It's his time and he's earned the right to get a run in the side. We certainly won't be judging him after one game."
Zimbabwean Test player Goodwin would have preferred to bat at four, but Moores says he's happy to open the innings with Richard Montgomerie.
"Murray is quite happy to give it a go. He's opened in one-day cricket before and has always batted at the top of the order," added Moores.
New Road has been flooded five times this winter and only last Thursday a sizeable part of the outfield had to be returfed.
Sussex: Montgomerie, Goodwin, Adams, Zuiderent, Cottey, Rashid, Martin-Jenkins, Prior, Kirtley, Lewry, Robinson or Davis.
