Police are looking for a man who threatened a Mid Sussex store manager with a knife.
Andrew Jenkins, manager of Budgens in South Road, Haywards Heath, approached the offender when he saw him try to steal coffee.
He asked to look inside the man's shoulder bag but the man swore at Mr Jenkins and walked away, dumping the coffee on a shelf.
Mr Jenkins followed him out of the shop and warned the man he did not want him in the store again.
The man pulled a knife partly out of his trouser pocket, exposing about 3in of what appeared to be a flick or lock knife, and said: "Do you want some of this?"
After a further exchange of words the man walked off down South Road, warning: "I will be back later."
Mr Jenkins was unhurt.
The man had a distinctive bird tattoo on his neck, with the wings of the bird outstretched. He had a 1in scar on the left side of his face, and a short cropped beard.
He was tall and slim, about 45 and had a Scottish accent.
He wore black trousers, a black bomber jacket and possibly an orange shirt.
All the coffee, worth £34.65, was recovered after the incident at 4.30pm on Monday.
