Police officers often wear bullet-proof vests when they are going into dangerous places where villains may have guns.

Now some of their dogs, who are often first on the scene, will be offered similar protection by the force in Sussex.

Five Alsatians have been wearing the vests as a trial and are getting used to them.

While every dog has its day, this scheme will give each one a chance to have another.
