Lewes put themselves within touching distance of promotion to division two as they ground out a 1-0 victory at home to Flackwell Heath.
The winner came from a 40th minute penalty after Jason Eaton sent Justin Harris tumbling. Chris Dicker sent Jamie Jackson the wrong way with the spot-kick.
Two minutes later Eaton's misery was complete when he was dismissed for a second bookable offence. Jackson had already been beaten by a Warren Bagnall header which went inches wide. Then Sam Francis saw his shot kicked off the line by Christian Bartlett.
Flackwell's Matthew Wojtowicz was given his marching orders in a disjointed second half.
Horsham lost their Associate Members Trophy semi-final 5-2 at Hemel Hempstead after extra-time. Lewis Field and Dave Fleming put Hemel two-up in 21 minutes and Andy Carter then saved Steve Flain's spot kick.
Flain made amends five minutes from the break and Ian Chatfield kept Hornets in the game by saving a Lee Groves penalty.
Gary Charman fed Ryan Andrews for a 51st minute equaliser. Five minutes into extra time Fergus Moore restored Hemel's lead with a header. Pedder's penalty and Field completed the job.
Goalkeeper James Heeps was the hero for high-flying Bedford as they stole a 1-0 win at Bognor in division one.
He made the pick of his saves from Nicky Wyatt in the first half and was later lucky to see Michael Birmingham shoot across the face of goal.
Bedford struck on 39 minutes when Paul Wilson's free-kick was headed in by Gary Williams.
