One recent evening at 6.30pm, I found my phone was dead.
My next-door neighbour kindly notified British Telecom.
The next day, at a public phone box, I phoned the operator at 11am, who put me through to Faults.
I explained where the fault might be (they had been repairing underground cables in our area) and that, at 86, I depend on the phone.
When I returned at 5pm, I found a card to say the fault had been corrected at 12.25pm. Can you imagine how relieved I was to have the phone back in working order?
So, many thanks for such prompt service.
