Six people were taken to hospital after a car ploughed into a city centre bus stop.

Emergency services were called shortly after 11pm last night to reports of the accident in North Street, Brighton.

Six people, including the driver and a young woman with leg injuries, were taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital, a spokesman for Sussex Ambulance Service said.

Police said none of the injuries was thought to be serious but a nine-year-old girl suffered a broken leg.

Police were questioning the driver of the car.
