The title chase is wide open again according to Sidley manager Dickie Day.

Sidley enjoyed a 2-1 win against Sidlesham while championship rivals Burgess Hill went down 1-0 to Selsey. But Day still believes Burgess Hill remain the favourites with a four-point cushion, despite Sidley have three games in hand.

Day said: "It has made things more interesting but there's still plenty of football to play yet and we've got to play Sidlesham again. I would rather have the points chalked on the board.

"But we're just going to keep concentrating on getting results and then we'll give ourselves a chance."

Chris Copley and Jason Finch scored to put Sidley in the driving seat in the first half before Wayne Farrier missed from a spot kick that would have clinched it. Wayne Eastman converted a penalty for Sidlesham to make it a tense finish.

Hillians' downfall was brought about by a Jason Reed goal in the first half and in-form Selsey could have had more.

Manager Danny Hinshelwood said: "We are playing some great football and it's nice that our result does a favour for Sidley. Dickie Day asked us to do his team a favour and we have."

Wick moved up to third in the table thanks to a 2-0 win at home to Redhill.

Gareth Green opened the scoring with his 14th of the campaign and a Stuart Garrod free-kick sealed victory in the second half.

Pagham slipped to fourth place after a 2-0 defeat at Eastbourne United.

Darren Smith opened the scoring before half-time and Ian Dickens scored a super second after the break from a Tobi Hutchinson cross.

At the bottom, Lancing now have an anxious wait to see if they have beaten the drop after their 1-0 win against Littlehampton.

Andy Gander's men won five out of the last seven and have now finished their fixtures. They lead Whitehawk by three points, with the Hawks left with only two games and holding an inferior goal difference.

Gander said: "Whitehawk will have their work cut out. We couldn't have done any more than win five from our last seven games. Now we'll just have to hope that's enough."

Martin Gray smashed a volley home from the edge of the box to seal the win in the first half.

Whitehawk won 1-0 against Horsham YMCA, a result which keeps alive their faint hopes of survival.

They entertain Burgess Hill next Saturday knowing defeat would condemn them to division two. Then they travel to Wick.

Hawks achieved victory without regulars Andy Packham, Nigel Jones and Phil Somers. They clinched victory with an Ollie Rowland penalty early in the first half.

Eastbourne Town drew 1-1 at Arundel but it will not be enough to save them from relegation. Lee Walsh gave Town a 64th minute lead but Arundel levelled 60 seconds later when centre-back Robert Grove fired home.

Relegated East Preston beat Saltdean United 3-1 thanks to goals from Matt Huckett (penalty), Michael Barrett and Paul Lephard. The reply came from O'Brien.

Two second-half Dave Smith goals saw Hassocks to a 2-1 win after they had fallen behind against Chichester. Shane Mott had struck for Chichester in the first half.

A late goal from Kevin Townsend earned Ringmer a 3-2 win at home to Three Bridges.

Wes Tate and Townsend fired Ringmer into a 2-0 half time lead but Bridges fought back after the break thanks to Dave Armstrong and an 84th minute equaliser from Steve Banks. But former Saltdean man Townsend bagged a winner three minutes from time.
