Lewes can clinch promotion to the Second Division over the next two days.
Rooks are looking to bounce back from a 1-0 home defeat against Aveley when they face Croydon Athletic away tonight before entertaining Hertford tomorrow.
They need four points from their four remaining games to ensure they go up, with results elsewhere going for them on Saturday.
But they need to improve their form, judging by a subdued performance against Aveley.
Lewes lost to a disputed penalty winner after 26 minutes.
Rooks goalkeeper Florian Ludewig was adjudged to have collected the ball under pressure from Kenny Leslie with his foot raised and the resultant spot kick was easily converted by Lee Fulling.
Both sides struggled to produce quality football in a match spoilt by the strong winds and a dry and bumpy pitch.
Lewes started well with chances for Sam Francis and Paul Thomsett forcing Aveley's Lee Richards into action.
Rooks played more creative football in the second 45 minutes but were unable to break down a dogged defence.
Their best chances came through Tommy Pattenden and David Soutar. A shot by Pattenden just cleared the angle of post and crossbar on the hour and substitute Soutar saw his goalbound shot saved by the legs of Richards nine minutes later.
Bognor bounced back from defeat 24 hours earlier to beat Barton Rovers 2-0 thanks to a Nicky Wyatt double in their final home division one game of the season yesterday.
Matt Russell was only denied by visiting goalkeeper Brad Gilham in their opening attack.
Rocks took the lead in the 19th minute when a Miles Rutherford cross was rifled home by Wyatt.
Wyatt, Jamie Howell and Adie Miles all had chances to increase Bognor's lead, They made it 2-0 when Wyatt netted in the 48th minute.
Assistant manager Neil Hider said: "After the disappointment of yesterday's game it was very pleasing to get the win. But considering our dominance I think we should have scored more than twice."
Bognor slipped up on Saturday, losing 2-1 at home to Bromley, who ensured themselves first division football next season.
Rocks took the lead in the 29th minute when a left wing corner was flicked on at the near post by Russell, allowing Neil Scammell to volley home.
Bromley equalised in the 54th minute when a John Myatt free-kick was headed goalwards in front of goalkeeper Craig Stoner by Justin Bowen and George Gibson headed home.
Scammell headed over as Bognor appeared to suffer tiredness from three games in four days. Bromley hit the winner two minutes from time when a right-wing corner was headed home from close range by Bowen.
Horsham beat lowly Hungerford Town 2-0 in division two yesterday.
Gary Charman scored a late goal in each half to give the Hornets the points.
After the match goalkeeper Ian Chatfield was named as Horsham's player of the year.
Hornets fell to a 3-0 defeat at Queen Street against promotion-chasing Windsor and Eton on Saturday, despite hitting the woodwork three times.
In their third game in four days, Horsham were jaded and Windsor stormed in with goals by Chuk Agodusi, Mark Holtzman and Dennis Greene.
Worthing's division one fixture at Whyteleafe was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. They will try again at Woodside Road on Thursday from 7.45pm.
