The Sussex group of the Richard III Society studies the life and times of one of England's most notorious kings.
Richard III was born at Fotheringhay Castle in 1452. He was king of England from 1483 until died in battle at Bosworth Field in Leicestershire on August 22, 1485.
Shakespeare's famous portrayal of Richard III as a murdering villain has eclipsed all other evidence to the man's character. But many believe this to be a false representation of a talented tactician, good king and social reformer.
The group meets on the third Wednesday of the month, except July, August and December, at 7.30pm in St. Mary's Church Hall, Shoreham.
