Screaming kids, overflowing luggage and the inevitable cry of "are we nearly there yet?" is enough to make travelling with their children an ordeal for many parents.

Two Brighton mums believe it does not have to be that way and have created a source of travel information designed to take the stress out of going away with the youngsters in tow.

Siobhan Dolan and Debi Green, both mothers of boys aged two, have teamed up to create the babygoes2 web site.

The approaching bank holiday weekend is a traditional date for grabbing a few days away. The site offers destinations near and far with advice on what to take for a clutter- free trip and how to keep children content during the boring travelling stage.

Ms Dolan said: "We were both keen travellers before the boys came along and we quickly found out the holiday industry was not geared up to providing information parents need.

The main thing is to be sure a location is safe and children will be welcome rather than simply tolerated. It is important to know whether accommodation has stairs, if vaccinations are needed or what cooking arrangements are included.

This is all fairly easy to check but no-one had done it.

"We set about researching all the places we had enjoyed visiting from a parents' eye-view and then canvassed among friends with small children for their experiences.

"The content has taken a year to produce because we found there were so many amazing options to talk about.

"The result is a comprehensive site which can help anyone travelling with young children, whether they are staying close to home for a few days break or a spending a few months away on the other side of the world."

The pair have careers in the travel industry and journalism to bring to the family-focused venture.

Ms Green said: "Our skills work well together, my time with a large travel company gels with Siobhan's way with words, so we are confident about the accuracy and relevance of the site.

"There are so many things to think about when travelling with small children and parents can be put off by having to deal with many different points of contact to arrange one holiday.

"We have set up babygoes2 as a one-stop place to find out about places to go with location specific travel advice. I have used it myself to plan my own holidays.

"I am off to Lanzarote soon with my son, Roman, and it has been great for sourcing everything I need including a child-sized wetsuit."

Ms Dolan and Ms Green are keen to hear from other parents wanting more information or with contributions to add. They can be contacted on 01273 729467 or via the web site.
